Knee Pain Programs
in Central Jersey

There are many offices that treat knee pain. But few have the experience, options, and technology that we have at Bod Medical. Dr. Bradley Bodner is a highly experienced physician who has personally performed thousands of knee procedures. Unlike other offices that rush you in and out, Dr. Bodner sets aside a full hour for each new patient consultation. We have many treatment options, and he feels that it is important to individualize a treatment plan for each patient. We specialize in giving non-surgical treatment options. Dr. Bodner began performing knee injections and regenerative medicine more than 20 years ago.

Our Knee Pain Treatment Options

1- Traditional knee injections

Dr. Bodner has a variety of what he refers to as traditional knee injections. These are the types of injections you would receive if you went to most orthopedic surgeons. Unlike most orthopedic surgeons, Dr.Bodner performs all of his injections under fluoroscopic guidance. Without fluoroscopy, your doctor hopes that what he is injecting gets to the right spot. With fluoroscopy, Dr. Bodner knows the injectable is getting to the right spot, making the injection both more effective and less painful (Dr. Bodner can avoid bones and painful areas)!

2- Visco-supplementation injections
(gel injections)

Did you know that studies show that Viscosupplementation (gel) injections delay the need for knee replacement? and that the more “gel” injections you have, the more you prolong that delay! Viscosupplementation, often called “gel” injections, provides lubrication and cushioning for the knee joint, helping to reduce pain and delay the need for knee replacement surgery. Dr. Bodner believes these injections can also slow the progression of arthritis by reducing friction in the joint. For the best results, experience, proper technique, and the right product are critical. Dr. Bodner performs all injections under fluoroscopy, ensuring the gel is accurately placed in the joint while minimizing discomfort, many patients describe his injections as near painless. With thousands of knee injections performed and expertise in selecting the appropriate gel for each patient, Dr. Bodner delivers safe, effective, and long-lasting results.

3- PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

Previously primarily available only to professional athletes and the wealthy, PRP is now available to everyone! We have found PRP to be a highly effective treatment. In fact, a recent study published in 2021 and conducted by researchers at Baylor College of Medicine concluded “PRP to the knee does significantly improve functional mobility, pain, and quality of life”!

Dr. Bodner is highly experienced with PRP injections.

4- Prolotherapy

Intra-articular Prolotherapy injections have been shown to reduce pain, improve function, and enhance quality of life in patients with knee osteoarthritis. A 2020 study published in Annals of Family Medicine concluded that Prolotherapy is safe, straightforward, and associated with high patient satisfaction and adherence. Unlike cortisone, which can break down tissue over time, Prolotherapy uses a proliferative solution to strengthen tendons, ligaments, and damaged areas, promoting healing and long-term improvement. The study found that Prolotherapy produced clinically meaningful and sustained improvements in pain, function, and stiffness. With over 20 years of experience performing Prolotherapy, Dr. Bodner finds it to be an excellent option for many patients seeking regenerative treatment for knee osteoarthritis.

5- Regenerative medicine/ “Stem cell” injections

Advances in regenerative medicine have turned what was once “science fiction” into reality. Stem cell injections have helped professional athletes like Tiger Woods, Rafael Nadal, and Cristiano Ronaldo recover from torn ligaments and degenerative back pain, often without surgery and in weeks rather than months. Over a million people have benefited from these treatments, experiencing life-changing results. Having performed regenerative medicine for years, Dr. Bodner has access to the most advanced products and the expertise to use them properly. Given the choice, he prefers to rebuild and repair damaged tissue rather than simply cover up symptoms. As Anthony Robbins explains in Life Force (2022), “Stem cells are the body’s repair kit, capable of dividing, renewing, and differentiating into the cells the body needs to heal.” [(O’Neil, No More Knife: The Stem Cell Shortcut to Injury Recovery; Charlotte Lozier Institute, “Fact Sheet: Adult Stem Cell Research and Transplants”)]

6- SoftWave Therapy (AKA The Stem Cell Machine).

SoftWave Therapy is breakthrough technology that is changing the way sports medicine and orthopedics are practiced. Dr. Martin O’Malley, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon and Team Physician for the Brooklyn Nets, NY Giants, and USA Basketball, asks: “How can you be treating sports injuries without SoftWave?”

SoftWave uses patented technology to target injured areas at the cellular level, activating the body’s natural healing processes. Dr. Bradley Bodner was the first physician in New Jersey to use this technology. He frequently uses SoftWave as a standalone treatment for knee pain and also combines it with other regenerative therapies for maximum results. Many patients notice improvement after their first session.

7- Erchonia Fx-635 laser

The Erchonia FX-635 is the world’s first and only FDA-cleared laser designed specifically to relieve pain and inflammation, with multiple clinical trials supporting its effectiveness. Unlike other lasers, the FX-635 works through painless bio-stimulation, promoting cellular function naturally.

How it works:
The FX-635 uses low-level laser diode arms to target pain centers in the muscles, ligaments, and nerves. Cells absorb the light energy, stimulating mitochondria to produce more ATP, which encourages natural healing and pain relief. Because it enhances the body’s own repair mechanisms, the FX-635 reduces inflammation and pain without adverse side effects.

At Bod Medical, we have seen excellent results using the FX-635, particularly for knee pain.

8- Knee on trac

Knee on Trac is a specialized therapy designed to:

At Bod Medical, we believe Knee on Trac should always be part of a comprehensive knee program. For patients with reduced joint space — even those told they are “bone on bone” — we often use Knee on Trac before injections to prepare the joint. It can also be used as a standalone treatment for patients who prefer to avoid needles. Most often, we combine Knee on Trac with other regenerative therapies, as we find the best results come from a multi-modal approach.

9- OMT/ Osteopathic Manual Therapy

Dr. Bodner often describes OMT as “like chiropractic without the cracking.” By realigning the body and restoring balance to bones and muscles, OMT allows your entire body to function more efficiently. This is especially important for knee pain, as misalignment in the hips, ankles, or other areas can affect your gait and contribute to discomfort.

OMT is a hands-on technique that involves moving and manipulating muscles and joints to diagnose, prevent, and treat various conditions. A Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) is trained in these specialized techniques and understands the interconnected system of muscles, nerves, and bones.

In addition to being a specialist in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Dr. Bodner is an Osteopathic physician who uses OMT almost daily to help patients restore balance, reduce pain, and improve overall function.
